Bleach Review: Don't Chase a Shadow

"Can't believe I'm fighting someone with a gun again"
Shunsui and Lille begin their fight and while Shunsui is using his unique Zanpakuto abilities Lille is proving to be quite the match.

I guess I don't really have much to say about this chapter, I mean it was interesting and the artwork with it's use of shadows was great but all in all it was just one big explanation of powers. It's always great to see Shunsui's Zanpakuto in action because it is so unique with it's ability to turn children's games into reality but he went on such a long rant about his new game and maybe because of the translate errors but didn't get some of it. From what I can tell Shunsui's new ability is based on the Japanese game Darumasan ga Koronda (which is like Americana's Red light, Green light) and Lille was attack a fake doll of Shunsui because he keep his eyes and sense on that. We also get more on an explanation on sensing Reiatsu in the middle of battle which was what Shunsui was taking advantage of. We also then get Shunsui using Kageoni shadow ability which is always awesome to see but Lille still proves quite a match by saying he can even shoot through the shadows. Besides that there is not much else to talk about but I will mention the artwork again because it is great; Kubo does such a great job of making Shunsui laidback in one panel but then so menacing in the next. Also thought I'd mention that it is a shame Shunsui has told the rest of the Soul Reapers to go on a head because I would have really liked to have seen more try to take on Lille, plus there isn't that much Sternritter compared to the Soul Reapers so we can't just keep having these one on one fights.

Shunsui's shadow moves have always been awesome!
Overall the chapter was really long winded but hopefully that means we can just have some fighting next time and maybe Shunsui will release his Bankai soon.

SCORE: 5/10

Highlights: Awesome artwork
Lille vs. Shunsui has the makings to be a great fight

Let - Downs: Too much explaining of the new abilities
                      Barely anything really happened

Gotham Season One: Everyone Has A Cobblepot

"Taste my boom stick!"
Bruce deals with the aftermath of the attack on Alfred meanwhile Gordon investigates Commissioner Loeb and Fish meets Dr Dulmacher AKA The Dollmaker (Colm Feore).
Once again Gordon has to deal with the corruption in the GCPD and I really like it every time he does because there is always something different to deal with. I liked most of the plot where Gordon has to find a cache of blackmail because it reminded me of the plot to the game Watch Dogs and I really enjoyed that story. However I was disappointed with how it ended because I would have preferred files of blackmail to Loeb's crazy daughter; I don't know to me the whole reveal was kind of lacklustre. Fortunately is only a small disappointment because throughout this plot Gordon got to have some awesome team ups starting with Dent who it is great to see again. Then there was Bullock and in my opinion he has to most depth to him because of his dark past; sure he betrayed Gordon at first but he broke under the weight of all the corruption years ago. It was in interesting to learn he and Gordon are just one of many cops to be forced to murder a gangster so they will always have a black mark in their past. Finally there was Penguin and he was back to his old sly and sadistic self this episode whether it was forcing a favour from Gordon or getting the to old people to kill each other. Him running a night club is alright but this manipulative and dangerous Penguin is who I want to see more. As for Gordon himself though he is always going to be a beacon of justice it was different to see him being a bit shadier because whatever the blackmail was he was fully prepared to blackmail Loeb and gain from it.
Use your coin Dent!
As for everything else I defiantly liked Colm Feore as the Dollmaker because firstly he is one of my favourite actors, my favourite role for him is when he was Randall in Revolution, and he had this dark humour presence whenever he was on screen as Dulmacher. What he did to his manager was pretty damn gruesome and we get an explanation to why he is collecting body parts. I really hope we get to see more of him as an antagonist because the Dollmaker in the comics is a dark character however I hope in season two he gets a storyline without Fish because again I just don't care about her plight and they just keep finding excuses not to kill her. Nygma had some small scenes with Kringle but it wasn't really that significant which was kind of the same for Bruce's scenes as well. I do like his moments with Alfred and I want him to team up with Selina but I was hoping he would already be making a start into investigating Reginald but now we have to wait until next episode. However I won't mark it down for the Nygma and Bruce scenes because we only got a few of them; they weren't what I want but they weren't bad.
Wonder if we'll see the Dollmaker slice off any faces? Those who read the comics know what I'm talking about
Overall I really enjoyed the main plot with Gordon this episode and the debut of The Dollmaker.
SCORE: 8/10
Highlights: Gordon team up with Dent and Bullock
Penguin's last scene at the club
                   The Dollmaker
Let - Down: The big reveal of Loeb's blackmail
                     Fish's subplot

The Flash Season One: Crazy for You

"Maybe we should have a musical episode"
Team Flash faces off against Meta - Human Shawna Baez (Brite Oldford) AKA Peek - A - Boo who uses her teleporting ability to free her boyfriend from Iron Heights and Henry runs into trouble while helping to solve the crime. Meanwhile Caitlin and Barry decide to move on from Ronnie and Iris and Barry meets Linda Park (Malese Jow) who also works for Central City Picture News and Cisco works with Piped Piper to find Ronnie.

First I guess I will talk about the Meta - Human and we finally get another female one which is the teleporting Peek - A - Boo. Now she was obviously a one off villain of the week but I like them in the Flash and Arrow universe because you can't just focus on major villains and massive story arcs all of the time. I liked her teleporting ability and her two fights she had with Barry, especially the second one where Barry had to use her weakness to stop her (similar to his fight with The Mist). Her powers also proved to be quite the challenge because teleporting was a match for speed more than I thought and it is good to have a break from villains who use gadgets. However maybe because she was a one off villain but they didn't delve into her character from the comics as much as I would have want, since in the comics she isn't all bad and is conflicted with what she does but they barely scratch the surface here. Plus her defeat was really underwhelming with the way she just gave up to Barry when her boyfriend bailed on her.

GORILLA GRODD!!!! Now you just need your armour
As for the rest of the episode I really enjoyed the comedic moments with Barry and Caitlin at the bar and singing (which was so funny) and it was nice seeing Caitlin out of her shell a bit as an assuming drunk. Now I don't think there will be romance between the two, I just think this is showing how much good friends they have become but speaking of romance Linda was introduced this episode; she is from the comics but I won't spoil anything now or go into detail since she will probably have a larger role next episode. Also Barry had a nice scene with his father in the prison hospital which was pretty damn touching and I like how Henry knows his son is The Flash but is being elusive about it probably because he is in jail right now and can't do anything about it. Still I like his character and I am glad they gave him more to do this episode. Finally Cisco actually had the strongest sub plot this episode because we got to find out more about the Firestorm Matrix, he worked with Piped Piper (glad he has broken free) and he is more of a fighter than I thought. I liked that Cisco had a more active role this episode than just behind a computer and inventing gadgets and I hope to see more. Before I end I just have to mention the scene with Gorilla Grodd...........GORILLA FREAKING GRODD! An awesome Flash villain who I am really looking forward to seeing in action; he was probably one of the trickiest to put in live action but I have complete faith in the guys behind the show. Plus I hope Piped Piper returns to help fight Grodd because he does in the comics.

"Don't you dare teleport!"
Overall this was a really solid episode with some strong character moments and an awesome teaser to Gorilla Grodd.

SCORE: 9/10

Highlights: Moments with Caitlin and Barry and Barry and his Father
Cisco had a strong role and learning more about Firestorm
Peek - A - Boo was a great villain of the week
                   GORILLA GRODD!!!

Let - Downs: Peek - A - Boo's surrender was disappointing
