Revolution Digital Comic Issue Four Review (Finale)

While Miles, Monroe and Charlie fend off the mob of crazies Rachael confronts the Nanites in the perfect world inside her own mind.

Well it looks like the story of Revolution is finally over and while I would have preferred live action and these issues have been really rushed the ending was quite satisfying. First off Rachael finally dies which is something I wanted for ages however at least her death was a good way to go; sacrificing her life to destroy the Nanites, so I guess good for her. I was also really glad to see Ben again because he was one of my fav characters and I wanted him to be the permanent avatar of the Nanites. I also liked his conversation with Rachael where he tired to convince her that humans are better off under the rule of the Nanites (he makes a compelling argument lol). The shock of course was that everyone under the influence of the Nanites died including Connor which is a let down because like Tom he his potential as a character has never been fully realized. I am glad Monroe never died at the end and it was kind of fitting his ending was left open to the audience to decided; whether he continued to fight or not. As for Miles and Charlie it was cool that we got a bit of a time skip where Miles eventually found someone else and had a son plus seeing his grave at the end makes me wonder how big the time skip was? All in all the ending was good but kind of sad as well with the amount of death there was at the end and that the power was never turned back on; they may not have changed much but Miles and Charlie got some peace at the end of all the fighting.

Overall I did really like this ending and it is sad that Revolution is now over however I do kind of hope that someone will make a spinoff comic series.

Revolution Digital Comic Issue Three Review

A bloody confrontation ensures between Tom and the Nanite followers and Mile's group however Monroe gets a surprise and Rachael makes a sacrifice.

I tell you I was not expecting that! Four characters from Revolution killed in one bloody fire fight, I guess this comic really is wrapping things up. It is sad to see Tom go because he has always been such an awesome character but I guess I kind of expected this because he has lost everything and gave himself over to the Nanites, he wasn't coming back from this. However it is a damn shame about Aaron; I think his death was a mistake because he really deserved to survive to the end plus he has always been one of my favourite characters. Despite these two character deaths I am not going to mark the score down for this because it is the end of Revolution so deaths were unavoidable and the whole shootout between both groups was really action packed and gory! We also got the reveal that Charlie is indeed the daughter of Miles and Rachael however that the signs have been there for ages and I would have preferred this reveal in live action. Monroe also got more of a spotlight which I am glad for because besides from killing Tom we got to see Connor again which I wasn't expecting and thought he wouldn't be in the comic. Finally I am glad Rachael admitted that everything is all her fault (because it is) but I wonder if she has trick up her sleeve just being taken like that? Too bad she never acted like this in live action or else I would have liked her lol.

Overall this is the best issue of the digital comic so far with some great action and the character deaths where handled really well. With the ending I am really looking forward to the next issue now!

Revolution Digital Comic Issue Two Review

Miles and the gang head to the Nanite city but meet with some resistance from it's residences led by Tom Neville.

Well I thought maybe the rest of the issues where going to be way longer, that the first one was so short because it was just to establish the characters and set up the story however I was wrong. Guess I will get the biggest let down out of the way again and that is the issue is just so damn short! Honestly I don't know how they are going to give a satisfying conclusion to Revolution in only two more issues which again makes me hope they will continue the story after this. This lack of content is also affecting the characters as well because we get barely any time with them like Monroe for example I feel that he is just tagging along with the group when he is such a major character in live action. Again because of this shortness the whole thing felt rushed like the journey to the Nanite city; the major highlight of the first season of Revolution (in my opinion) was the adventure and interactions the group had with others and in new locations across the Monroe Republic. In this comic we get none of that and they even just basically skip an encounter with a group of bandits, I just wish this was more than four issues. What I have to praise about this issue however was Tom Neville who played a major role and was badass on the front cover with his steeped, bloody hands. I like that he seems to be the Nanite's spokesmen in this and I also liked his speech of how the Nanite city works and why he feels content there; it was interesting and gives a bit more sympathy to Tom who was about as down as a guy can get at the end of Season Two and I can understand way he would turn to the salvation the Nanites are offering. Another praise in this goes to Charlie because once again I am liking her as the narrator and I liked how she rallied the group together when Miles refused to go at first. Final thing in this issue and the last one they also do a good job of making Rachael one stubborn, crazy bitch like she was in live action lol.

Overall the shortness of the issues is going to mark the Revolution comic every time but Tom was great in this (like he is in live action) and I am interested in this whole connection thing the Nanites are offering to it's citizens. Still this issue really isn't that better than the first one but the ending of it makes me excited for the next one.

Revolution Digital Comic Issue One Review

While Miles, Monroe and Charlie are finishing off The Patriots Rachael and Aaron may have finally found a way to stop the Nanites with a virus developed by Grace but they must activate it within the city that the Nanites have created that has electricity for everyone.

Those who have read my previous reviews know that I am a huge fan of Revolution and I think it is a damn shame that such a great show was cancelled when there are hundreds of pathetic reality shows and generic crime dramas that are still airing. I have had hopes that there may still be a Season Three but the people behind the show say it won't happen because of the lack of money (stupid excuse if you ask me) and decided to end the story with a digital comic. I didn't have high hopes when I heard this (despite being a huge comic book fan) because the TV show was just soooooooo good and while I know we should be grateful that we are getting an end at all I still think we loyal Revolution fans deserve a live action season!!

On to the first issue of the comic and my initial impression was that it is better than I thought it would be.......but not by much. The positives of it is that the art work really is impressive; the characters look like their live action counterpart, I liked the colours and the fight scenes with Miles, Monroe and Charlie. I like that straight away the Nanites are established as the main villain and their plan to create a city for anyone to live and use electricity is interesting and I want to keep reading to know what their plan is. I liked that Charlie was the narrator because this give her character more to than what she got in Season Two lol and she was good at it. As for the what I didn't like the first issue was way too short and because of that the whole thing felt kind of rushed. It has been a year after Season Two so they skipped the war against The Patriots (why did Miles and Monroe re join the fight against them?), the Nanite City, Rachael and Aaron infiltrating it; it is all just told too quickly. Another thing that was rushed was the pages with Grace and that it because the virus that is supposed to destroy the Nanites just came out of nowhere. It was just so convenient that after Season One and Two she just now shows up with a way to stop them; I know they want to give us an ending but this isn't that creative, they didn't even say how she made it.

Overall while the comic is good and I enjoyed the read I feel like the people behind it are rushing it just so they can just end the story and be finished with it. However I do hope that this might lead to a Revolution comic series that continues after these issues are done; I would definitely settle for that now after seeing this if it means the world of Revolution can continue for many more years.

Arrow Season Three: Public Enemy

Run Team Arrow RUN!

When Ray is injured during an attack on the Mayor's office Felicity's mom Donna visits Starling City again. Meanwhile Team Arrow tries to find Maeso however things take a turn for the worse when Quentin is kidnapped by Ra's al Ghul.

 

This is almost like Season One when Arrow was hunted by the SCPD but the notable difference was Quentin is now almost completely blinded by hatred. Now I say almost because he kind of isn't in the wrong about what he is doing because that speech at the end with Oliver in the police van (standout performance by Blackthorne, he did a great job of being completely overcome by anger this episode) did make a lot of sense in that despite Arrow doing good at the end of the day it is Quentin's job to arrest him and how he actually hates himself for not doing so and even becoming his accomplice. I didn't actually expect him to meet with Ra's al Ghul at all but it was nice that these two characters got a chance to but it was a shame Ra's never used this as an opportunity to reveal more of Sara's time in the League; it is still really vague how she got there and what she did. As for Oliver it really seems hopeless for him now; Slade made him feel that why but who to thought it would be the police this season, just shows you how much Oliver needed them on his side. I guess it's kind of understandable that he turned himself in, in the end because he had no other options but it seems Roy has got his back which is good because he has been on the side lines too much this season. Now I'm not sure how Oliver and Roy are going to get out of this but I really hope it doesn't end in Roy's death (because a character death has been teased for the next episode) since I really like him as Arsenal and he still needs his robotic arm. As for Quentin I like to think he may come to regret his actions, maybe if Roy does die that will trigger it, but I don't know how he is going to redeem himself to Team Arrow and Laurel. Finally this storyline gave us some kickass fight scenes between Team Arrow and the League and some great police chases.

"I forgot how good it felt to chase masks"

As for everything else I enjoyed seeing Felicity's mom again because she brings a breath of light hearted fresh air and again raises questions about who Felicity's dad was with her comments. However while Ray's nanotechnology was interesting I didn't like that he was put on the sidelines this episode when we saw him in action in the last one; I just felt he could have played a larger role and all in all this small subplot felt out of place compared to everything else that went on. Also I'll say again I'm not bothered about the relationships in the show (it sometimes focuses too much on them) however I can't believe they have opened to possibility of Felicity being with Oliver again because I just do not like that. I think her conflicted feelings for Oliver has just been such a downer for her character (when she has been so cheery in the previous seasons) and I just want it to end already. As for the Flashbacks I did like them because it was a nice way to bring Shado and her father in it again even if it was just for closure for Shado's twin.

How is Roy going to get out of this one?

Overall it is a desperate time now for Team Arrow and I don't know how they are going to make things right which is why I can't wait for the next episode.

Revolution Season One: The Dark Tower

The Finale!

The episode begins with Miles and Monroe facing off against each other but are ambushed by Jenkins's men, they run for it but the two fall down a pipe that is part of the water main system while Nora is left behind. Randall, who escaped last episode, retrieves a keycard from behind the portrait of George W. Bush. Meanwhile Grace and Rachael talk about the risks of shutting down the Nanites and Rachael insists that they are replicating out of control. Jenkins has received word that Miles and Monroe are gone and informs Rachael and the rest that if they try to access level 12 then he will kill them all.

That's got to be a painful way to go

Outside of The Tower, Tom has successfully turned the soldiers in the camp to his side and even kills someone who refused to join him despite telling him he was free to go. Miles wakes up in a nearby wood and Monroe immediately attacks him but are stopped when a Militia solider fires on them and doesn't take orders from Monroe. Miles slips away in the confusion and we have a Flashback ten years after The Blackout and he and Monroe are celebrating his birthday but a bomb destroys the bar the where in, injuring them both. In The Tower Aaron is stunned to learn that his code is used for it's operating system and Grace says it wasn't by chance that Ben chose to befriend him. Back outside Tom orders C4 piled at the entrance to The Tower and actually wants to prevent the power turning back on at all costs. Jason is angry at this, and that his father has switched sides again, but agrees to help as long as Charlie and Rachael are kept alive.

They sure brought ALOT of explosives with them

Inside Rachael tries to appeal to Grace to let her continue with her plan but when she doesn't Charlie and Aaron chloroforms her and steals her keycard. We then have another Flashback shortly after the bombing and Miles is recovering with Nora at his side. Monroe informs him that they have not only killed the bomber but his entire family so that an example can be made. In The Tower Aaron believes that The Blackout was actually done on purpose, Nora then shows up to tell them Miles is gone she also tells Rachael that she admits Miles loves her and will chose her and that Rachael loves him too. Back outside Monroe and Miles continue their fight but Miles has had enough saying he has bigger problems, this angers Monroe who says this was all Miles fault in the first place. Miles admits that he tired to assassinate him because he was killing too many innocents but before anything else can be said one of Monroe's helicopters flies overhead, Miles escapes but Monroe is captured. Inside The Tower the group comes across Jenkins and his men however Nora has a plan.

"Come back and finish this Miles!"

Outside Monroe is brought before Tom who says he will take over the Republic, Monroe says that he will kill Tom and his family but Tom smiles and says that Monroe is just foolish and demented and leaves with Jason to lead the assault in The Tower. Inside The Tower Nora's bomb against Jenkins and his men worked however she is severely wounded in the process. Outside Miles frees Monroe and says that they are still brothers and sneaks back inside The Tower while Monroe escapes, inside Tom and his men come across Grace whom Tom recognizes. Elsewhere Rachael wants to go turn the power on but Charlie wants to save Nora first however Rachael says this comes first because it's for Danny. Charlie doesn't believe that saying that Danny is dead and begs her mother to chose her who is alive, Rachael doesn't and leaves with Aaron (f***ing b***h). Later Charlie and Nora are attacked by Militia but are saved by Miles, Nora then dies in Miles's arms.

Goodbye Nora

On level 12 Rachael and Aaron are attacked by Tom, Jason and the Militia but when Miles and Charlie arrive they are able to get to the control room and lock themselves in. Aaron uses the computer and wonders if Grace was right but Rachael tells him to do it, Aaron then turns the power back on. All across the world power is slowly being restored; Julia sees a ceiling fan spinning again, Priscilla hears static over the radio, Foster sees all of the lights in Atlanta turn on again and Monroe, out in the open plains, sees an unusual lightning storm. In Atlanta a solider asks Foster what will they do now and she replies that they will throw everything they have at Philadelphia.

And now we have light!!!

Back in The Tower the group hears a gunshot and sees that Randall has locked himself in to the missile control room and has launched nuclear missiles at Atlanta and Philadelphia. Rachael asks why he is doing this and Randall says his plan was to join Monroe and eventually have the Republic and Federation destroy each other but thanks Rachael and says it is all because of her he can do it himself with missiles. Miles tires to shoot the glass but it is bullet proof, Randall then walks up to the glass and says "I am a Patriot" before shooting himself in the head.

The new villain for season two?

With Randall dead the group watches in horror as nuclear missiles are heading towards the two cities. The episode ends with an unseen man turning a lamp on and off and another man says that Randall has finally succeeded and that it is time to go home; "Mr President". It is revealed that there is a United States of America Colony in Guantanamo Bay Cuba and they have been waiting for Randall to finish his mission and return.

Now that is what I call a finale! Full of action, suspense and twits you did not expect, lets go over them all right now! Firstly I think the final confrontation between Miles and Monroe was done really well because even though they where interrupted in The Tower they had some pretty brutal punch ups on the outside. I am really glad that Miles just can never bring himself to kill Monroe because after they have been trying to kill each other for most of the series Miles still cares about him as a brother with how he helped him escape at the end. I guess we'll see if Miles may regret that decision or if Monroe may owe him one.

"So where's my birthday cake?"

As for Tom I am just really glad to see that if managed to overthrow the Republic even if it is late in the series. I really think he could have made a good leader because he does treat his men a lot better than Monroe, like near the beginning when he mercy killed a wounded Militia and buried him. I can also completely understand him wanting to keep the power off because this is a world that he excels at while before he was insignificant. He had some great scenes in The Tower where he tries to stop Rachael and Aaron but its a shame he never used Grace for anything when he ran into her.

Those guys are good at finding people

Something I admit I didn't like, even though it was sad and tragic to see, was the death of Nora. Mainly because it kind of came completely out of nowhere and, I am not saying this because I hate her, but Rachael should have died and I actually thought it might have happened before watching this. I think Rachael's death would have had more of an impact because imagine she went through all of this journey and after everything she has done, she manages to succeed but dies before she see what becomes of it. Nora just really didn't deserve it because she's just been a great character all throughout the series while Rachael is a back - stabbing, traitorous, murderer of innocence, whore! Those who even like Rachael have got to admit that she did a really rotten thing of ignoring Charlie's pleas and not helping Nora who has done more for Charlie than her own mother? It also shows that I think Rachael doesn't care that much for Charlie because everything she says she does is for Danny and she always has no problems leaving her, but at this point I don't think she is even doing it for Danny she is just doing it because its what she thinks is right.

No one messes with Tom Neville now

Now I want to talk about one of the best scenes not just in this episode but in the whole series and that is when the power was coming back on. Really love that scene; when it changes to the other characters and their expressions when they see power for the first time in fifteen years and that brilliant music that was playing during it. One of the best scenes I have seen, it was just done really well and the build up leading to it was great as well with Aaron struggling with the decision and taking his time to press the button.

"So they actually did it" 

Lastly is Randall's plan revealed and I have to say that it was a really smart plan; letting them turn on the power so he can use missiles. In the end Rachael lost and Randall won because millions of people are now dead because of her stubbornness of allowing him carry out his plan. It is a real shame that he killed himself though but since he was obviously working for the President and I guess his mission was "complete". It also raises more questions than answers because why would the President go to such extreme measures to destroy the Republic and the Federation? and where they the ones who caused The Blackout in the first place?

"I win, you lose!"

Overall this was an awesome finale and a great set up for the events of season two. I have said it before but Revolution sure has come along way if you have watched the whole season from start to finish. Charlie simply set out on a mission to rescue her brother but it became something a lot bigger with conspiracies, scientists hiding secrets, all out war between two Nations and basically changing the fate of the whole world. That's why I really love this series, it has really evolved over time, surprised us with many reveals and didn't just stick with the same thing and I hope everyone realizes what an amazing series this truly is. This finale was one of the best episodes and a great way to finish season one.

I have finally reviewed every episode of Revolution Season One!!! I really have enjoyed, I know I am not the best reviewer in the world but I hope you have enjoyed it too. Like I have mentioned before I am not reviewing season two straight away because I want to review other shows. I do really like season two but I'll say it now that it wasn't as good as this season and since there will be no season three (DAMN!!!) there is no rush to review the episodes but I will get round to it probably early next year.

Revolution Season One: Children of Men

The penultimate episode.

The episode begins immediately after the last one and Rachael is tackled to the ground by Militia and her grenade thrown outside, five miles away Miles and his group have landed and make the rest of the way on foot. At The Tower it is revealed that Rachael has security clearance to enter and so she, Monroe, Randall and several other soldiers enter, this does not go unnoticed as the people watching them last episode arm themselves with weapons. Back outside Miles and his group find Aaron who tells them Rachael is captured and they have to get inside. Inside The Tower Randall tells them that it is immune to the Nanites and his workstation accesses the satellites in orbit to show him the whole world. He then tells Monroe that more weapons lie at level 12 and they all take the elevator down there.

Would have been great to have seen more of the world in Revolution

However the elevator stops on level 11 and the doors open but Monroe and the rest are attacked by the mysterious people carry weird grenade launcher looking guns. All of the soldiers are killed, Randall escapes in the confusion and Monroe and Rachael lock themselves in a reinforced room, Rachael tires to stab him with a knife but is quickly disarmed. Meanwhile outside Jason and Tom blow up the amplifier the Militia where using while the rest make a break for the door so Aaron can unlock it. He does and he, Miles, Nora and Charlie rush inside but Jason and Tom don't make it in time and a locked outside with the Militia.

Damn!

Inside Monroe and Rachael aren't killing each other but they continue to argue however Monroe finds the guns similar to what the group of people used but it is protected by reinforced glass. Rachael then has a Flashback one week before The Blackout and she and Ben are feeling guilty about the project and Rachael thinks they should have space from each other (stuck - up f***ing b***h). Outside Tom and Jason are captured however Tom is not too worried as he manages to raise doubts about Monroe's leadership to their guard who seems to listen.

"I've been in my tricky situations than this"

Inside The Tower Miles and the rest move more deeper into it but are soon pursued by the group with guns meanwhile Monroe tires to break the glass blocking the guns and Rachael refuses to help. Monroe says that he found out that he has a son and that he truly wants to just see him, this gets to Rachael who has another Flashback four months after The Blackout. Ben and his family have found a house and he is building a computer and powering it up with his pendant. Rachael is also there and expresses regret over what they created that have killed millions, Ben comforts her. Miles and the group are still running away from their pursuers and Aaron says that the code he created at MIT is what they used to program the Nanites and he should be able to use the backdoor in it to turn them off.

"Now I just need to build a TV and a DVD player"

Outside The Tower the guard who Tom was talking to earlier is convinced to overthrown Monroe and put Tom in charge, he frees Tom and Jason and leaves to find those who would join them. Miles and his group are attacked once again and are almost overwhelmed by their guns. Monroe and Rachael sees this on the monitors in their room and Monroe says the only way to save Charlie is to give him the code to the guns. Miles and Nora are separated from Aaron and Charlie, the latter of whom is trapped and almost killed but is saved by Monroe. Charlie is surprised and angry but Monroe takes off to find Miles and Rachael tells her to leave him, just then she, Charlie and Aaron are surrounded by the people with guns.

 

I wouldn't do that, the mess would be everywhere

Monroe manages to find Miles, who has a gun of his own, and says that they finally need to finish this. Charlie, Rachael and Aaron are escorted to another room filled with people and Grace is also there along with Dan Jenkins (Glenn Morshower) who was at The Tower the night of The Blackout. He says that he, his men and their families have been down he ever since The Blackout to protect The Tower and to make sure the lights stay off. He believes that humanity can't go back to the way it was when they abused electricity to make more advanced war (like with missiles or bombs) and proceeds to burn Jane's journal. Aaron almost begs him to stop saying that power would also mean medicine, fresh water and feeling safe again but is unable to stop Jenkins burning the journal. Grace says there is another reason and that turning off all the Nanites at once might burn the entire world and says that Rachael knew that.

 

"Fire is the only tool we need down here"

The quest to turn the power back on is almost at an end but I really shouldn't be surprised that there is quite a lot of opposition. First I really want to praise the action that was in this episode because there was a lot of it, the stand out being Jenkins's group and those guns that they have. Some of the most graphic and best action scenes where with them, like when they ambushed Monroe's group and exploded those soldiers and when they chased down Miles's group. Another standout is when Tom and Jason blew up the amplifier and the ensuring fire fight that followed was really cool as well.

 

"Must have weapons!"

Also I didn't expect Tom and Jason to be captured but I am glad they did because Tom is finally, finally doing the take over of the Monroe Republic! He has always been a master with words and using the situation of many soldiers doubting Monroe to his advantage. I wonder what he'll do with the Republic, will he make peace with Georgia because of the time he has worked there or still make war? Either way I am looking forward to seeing what he will do and it is a shame we only have one more episode this season to find out. Speaking of Monroe I wonder if he will find out what Tom has done before the season is over. I also actually like the one on one time he got with Rachael and that in the end they actually teamed up together for a short. We also got a big confrontation set up between him and Miles so I am really looking forward to watching that!

 

Lets all follow Miles's lead!

We also got some more secrets on the Nanites and the possibility that they could destroy the world, now that was quite the shocker at the end. However I don't think this will dismay Rachael from turning them off because she is just that single minded. We also have the reveal of the group that guards The Tower and I have to say that they aren't crazies they are doing what they are doing for non - selfish reason but Aaron does make a good point too. I guess next episode Charlie, Rachael and Aaron are going to have to fight through them all to turn the power back on. Also fifteen years underground? I wouldn't be able to do that.

 

Now that is really cool entrance

There isn't much I dislike about this episode because Rachael was alright this time I just really found her annoying in the Flashback when she wants space from Ben, again she is trying to make herself the better person in every argument or conflict when she obviously isn't. Also once again her journey is shown to be for the most selfish of reasons because if there is the possibility of destroying the world, however small, why still go through with it? This just shows that she really isn't one of the good guys because she honestly doesn't care who she kills if they stand in her way or prove her wrong (stuck up whore!)

Overall this was one really great episode and setup for the finale and I really liked almost everything about it. Rachael was a tad annoying and Miles, Charlie and Aaron didn't play much of a significant role however Aaron did have a small reveal that his code was used for the Nanites, that was cool and I am sure Miles will have a larger role in the finale.

Revolution Season One: The Longest Day

The Militia fights back!

The episode begins in Ashland, Kentucky at a makeshift Militia base and several soldiers are monitoring the skies with computer equipment. At the Rebel/Georgia camp Nora regrets spending the night with Miles because they could both die any day though Miles doesn't agree with her. Tom also confronts Jason about what happened at the boat and try to goads Jason into killing him, Jason refuses so Tom hits him and even calls him a coward. Charlie tries to comfort him by saying she doesn't have the best relationship with her mom and then it changes to the Plain's Nations where we see Rachael and Aaron. Aaron is still overwhelmed by the information in Jane's journal but Rachael doesn't have the answers and even wonders why Ben gave the pendant to Aaron, she then prepares to shove Danny's capsule into her leg in an attempt to heal it but says it could blow them both up.

"Relaxing Rachael while I entertain you with a festive tail"

Back at the Rebel/Georgia camp Jason and Charlie spot military drones flying towards them but before they can sound the alarm the drones strike missiles at the camp. We then have a Flashback seven years after The Blackout and Rachel has just left her family to be a prisoner of Miles. Miles is unhappy about this because he wanted Ben but Rachael says Ben isn't interesting in turning the lights back on but she is. In the present Miles comes to and finds both Nora and Tom, the latter wonders how the Militia knew their location to which Miles replies that there must be a Militia spy in their midst. In the Plains Nation Aaron and Rachael find an old electronic store where Aaron wants to try and make sure that Danny's capsule works and heals Rachael's leg and not kill them.


"And everything seemed to be going so well"

At the Rebel/Georgia camp Miles, Nora and Tom head north to where Jason and Charlie where seen and they spot Militia troops coming to wipe out the survivors, meanwhile Charlie is trapped under rumble. At Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Baker is confident that their drone strikes have taken out the Rebels, the Georgia army and even Miles but Monroe does not share this view. Baker convinces Monroe to celebrate with him in a nearby bar and as they are walking down the street a sniper kills all the guards and almost kills Monroe. Monroe is unharmed but is surprised that Baker is too because unlike him Baker had no cover at all.

 

Your last friend in the world Monore

Back at the Plain's Nation Aaron fixes the capsule and it heals Rachael's leg but they are then ambushed by a group lead by a man named Lee Blackmore who wants to know what happened. Meanwhile Miles, Nora and Tom have taken out a few soldiers and have even found Jason who is badly injured and says that Charlie was in the bell tower when the missiles hit. He asks them to leave him but Tom decides to stay with him while Miles and Nora move towards the bell tower. We then have another Flashback and Miles is trying to look for Ben but Rachael says he will never find him. Rachael is really starting to hate Miles now because of the things he has done that has even earned him the nick name "The Butcher of Baltimore". Miles thought they cared about each other because of the affair they had Rachael says she regrets it, Miles says she will regret her stubbornness.

 

Go Monroe Militia!!

In the present after taking them to his camp Blackmore wants Rachael and Aaron to heal his son since he saw what they did to her leg, Rachael says he need to them back to the electronics store. At Independence Hall Monroe accuses Baker of trying to get him killed since Baker was completely exposed for the sniper but was unharmed, Baker denies this saying he is Monroe's only friend but Monroe doesn't want to hear it. Baker than says that Monroe pushes away everyone, like Miles and Tom, and that he will be alone when he takes over the continent. As armed guards enter Monroe thanks him and leaves his office and then the sound of gunfire can be heard. At the Plains Nation Rachel knocks Blackmore out and Aaron wants to know why they are turning the power back on if they don't help people. Rachael then reveals that she is only doing it so that the other nations will kill Monroe, that she doesn't care about helping anyone and that she will leave Aaron if he doesn't help (f***ing b***h).

 

Bye Baker

At the Rebel/Georgia camp Jason can't understand why Tom won't leave him and Tom says that even after everything he has done he won't leave his son for dead. Tom then manages to defend Jason by killing several Militia but is wounded in the arm. Miles and Nora are still getting to Charlie but they are surrounded and Nora decides to run and distract the Militia, something Miles was planning to do, so Miles can rescue Charlie. It works and Miles manages to get to Charlie and even kills someone who was trying to kill her. At Independence Hall Monroe is informed that the sniper who tried to kill him was a Georgia spy and that he was working alone, Baker had nothing to do with it.

 

"Four to try to take me down? Now that's f***ing insulting"

Later in Atlanta Jason wakes up in a hospital and see Charlie standing over him and they kiss, Tom sees this in the hall way. Meanwhile President Foster is angry that she lost most of her army and that the Militia has threatened to carpet bomb the city unless they surrender. Foster sees no choices since she has to save as many as see can.....unless Miles has a brilliant plan. The episode ends with a captured Nora being thrown at Monroe's feet.

 

"Now what shall we talk about Nora"

Now this was quite the great episode and that is because finally the Militia have won a victory over the Rebel/Georgia forces and almost wiped them out. I know there the bad guys but I'm just glad that Monroe now used the pendant on something that was really effective, makes you wonder why he wasted time on nukes and anthrax. Anyway I really liked the beginning when the drones strike the camp, it was so epic with some cool explosions and the results where really devastating.

 

Time for Miles to arrive in the nick of time

All of the action post - drone strike was awesome as well, some of the best I have seen. You can really feel the desperation with Miles, Nora and Tom as they try to look for Charlie and Jason as the Militia forces hunt for them. Got some great gun fighting with Tom as he defended Jason, also looks like they might be able to repair their relationship between them since Tom confessed that he still cared for Jason. The scenes with Miles and Nora fighting where good too, especially with Nora sacrificing herself for Miles even though she is now captured by Monroe I doubt he just wants a friendly chat. We also got some great scenes with Monroe and Baker and it really shows how unhinged Monroe is and how far into paranoia he is. It is kind of sad that Baker is dead now because I really like his character but it is tragic for Monroe again because he has lost someone else and it was by his own hand. Baker is right Monroe is just pushing everyone away and he is going to be alone. 

 

I'm sure there's an explanation but these should have been used at the start

As for what I didn't like about the episode, you guessed it, Aaron and Rachael's subplot because again it just felt like filler and took you away from the more exciting drone strike storyline. Not just that but Rachael's attitude was once again annoying (and she was alright these last couple of eps), with her revealing her true colours to Aaron after knocking out Blackmore. She is just as bad, no worse, then any antagonist in the series, she cares about absolutely no one but herself; she says that she is doing it for Danny but I just don't believe because of how much malice she acts with to turn the power back on. Aaron is right; this journey to The Tower should be to help people not so that Rachael can just forget she has been the worst mother in the world to Danny and Charlie. Her stubbornness is annoying as well, why couldn't he just tell Miles everything in the Flashback? Also I seriously doubted she regrets the fling they had because of how much she obviously liked Miles more than Ben but also like in the other Flashback and she tired to be the better person over Ben when dealing with the Department of Defence she tired to be the better person over Miles over their affair. I hate that Aaron is paired with her because he is a great character but Rachael could care less about him from what she said and is really only using him to turn the power on. Annoying F***ING B***H!

 

I think it would have been better if Rachael and Aaron made friends with them and asked for help 

Overall this episode could have ranked as one of my favourites if only they just focused completely on Miles's group, the drone strikes and the scenes with Monroe and Baker because those parts where so, so good. You might think its unfair to mark an episode down because of one character and their plot but Rachael just ruins everything so damn much. I have the DVD of Season One and I always skip the part with Rachael and Aaron and Flashbacks in this episode, I don't for previous episodes because I can tolerate her and as I said before I still enjoy the whole series even with her (even when its just her scenes because I admit she's important to the plot). However I just can't in this one because this is one of those episodes where the writers just took her attitude too far.

Revolution Season One: The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia

Time for a Revolution review.

The episode begins with Monroe hearing the news that Tom and his wife are missing and that Jason has been spotted with the Rebels. Believing that Tom might be with the Rebels and angry at that fact he shoots the messenger in the head. Elsewhere at a Rebel camp a dying Rebel member manages to deliver a message to Miles before he dies and it turns out that Monroe has managed to sneak the nuclear device to its neighbouring Nation; The Georgia Federation. Miles decides to infiltrate Georgia's capital of Atlanta and stop the Nuke and Charlie and Nora also come along, with Charlie even pointing out that this will be her first time outside of the Monroe Republic.

Don't worry Monroe there are more we he came from

When Miles and his group have crossed the border they decide to get some Georgia solider disguises however at an outpost they find several soldiers dead and uniforms missing; someone had the same idea. Miles finds a knife that is left behind and then has a Flashback seven years after The Blackout and he his drinking with a young protégé of his named Alec Penner (Dayo Okeniyi). Miles decides to give him the same knife we saw in the present, that is also Matheson family heirloom, to Alec. It then changes to Rachael and Aaron who are trying to find another colleague of Rachael's named Jane and are shortly saved by her who sets two Militia soldiers on fire with a strange blinking device. At Jane's house Rachael explains that she wants to turn the Nanites off, Jane does not understand why because they where keeping Danny alive but Rachael explains that he is dead. Jane however still refuses to help because the same technology is keeping her wife alive and doesn't want to sacrifice her just because Danny is dead.

Fatality

Disguised as soldiers Miles, Nora and Charlie sneak in to Atlanta and they split up to find Alec and it is not long before Miles find him and the two fight it out. Miles however looks to be overpowered by him but Alec suddenly gets an arrow in the shoulder and retreats but Miles and Charlie chase after him. Miles manages to catch up to him but Alec has just killed an Atlanta policeman and leaves Miles to get captured by others. Later Charlie runs in to Alec who warns her that Miles can never be trusted even if Charlie is her niece then runs off. Before Charlie can run after him a Monroe helicopter is seen flying above and raining down hundreds of letters that asks for the surrender of Georgia or face a nuclear holocaust.

Miles vs. Alec

Miles is taken to Georgia Federation President Kelly Foster (Leslie Hope) who has heard of Monroe's warning and wonders why Miles is here. After some talking, made hard because of some hinted bad - blood between them, Foster lets Miles go to find the nuclear device. While the citizens of Atlanta are evacuating Miles meets up with Charlie and Nora and they split up again the find Alec. We then Flashback nine years after The Blackout and Miles is welcoming back Alec from a mission in Texas. However it turns out Alec failed his assassination and they even saw his face so Miles, wanting to avoid a war with Texas, decides to send Alec back. Alec is distraught and feels betrayed over this but is soon dragged from the room as Miles looks on, presumably to be a prisoner of Texas. Meanwhile Rachael is searching Jane's house for information on The Tower but is soon found out and tries to convince Jane that she wished she could have done this earlier and would have sacrificed Danny after seeing what she did for Monroe. Jane does not believe her and is unwilling to sacrifice her wife, Beth, just because Danny is dead now but Beth over hears and convinces Jane to help Rachael, Jane then gives her a book with all her information on The Tower.

It's for the good of the Republic Alec

Back at Atlanta Miles finds Alec preparing to blow himself up with the nuke that has a pendant attached to it and tries to convince him out of it. Alec however is having none of it because he never hated Miles for sending him to Texas since it was the mission and the right thing to do but what he does hate him for is leaving while he was away so it made it seem like it was for nothing. The two have a brutal fight but Miles kills Alec with the knife he had given to him before, an angry Monroe tries to order Alec to blow the nuke over the radio but is met with only silence.

"This thing does work right?"

Later on Charlie tries to get Miles to talk about her mother but Miles only tells her to back off and is soon ordered to meet with Foster. Foster is furious that the nuclear material is missing from the bomb but Miles refuses to hand it over because he doesn't want Georgia to use nukes either. Foster says she will go to war with Monroe and will use her money, army and navy to attack his southern border and wants Miles and the Rebels to attack from within while they attack from the south. Miles says he does not have the manpower or the weapons to help but Foster shows her the two hundred men armed with a thousand weapons that will reinforce the Rebels and asks if Miles is ready to be a General again.

Got flashbacks again!

Finally after thirteen episodes we have left the Monroe Republic and we get to see what other parts of America is like, namely the Republic's biggest rival; The Georgia Federation. I really enjoyed seeing how different Georgia is to the Republic because Miles was right in saying that it is like a completely different world. They use steam powered buses, they are filthy rich, they actually occupy skyscrapers and their capital of Atlanta seems to flourish more than Philadelphia. Life just seems a lot more better in Georgia and makes you wonder why everyone in the Republic doesn't move there but then again remember all of the dangers Charlie and the group faced while travelling through the Republic. As I have said before experiencing new places is a real pull for me when watch adventure/action stuff like this so obviously my favourite parts was just looking at the new place we got to see.

This is fair because last time Nora had to pretend to be the slut

We also got a great story between Miles and Alec and we got some great Flashbacks with them as well. Again its the stuff that Miles has done in the past that really makes it hard to take his side like when he first killed during the early days of The Blackout that could have influenced Monroe, ruining the new life Jim had made and now it is betraying Alec to Texas since Miles obviously must have treated Alec almost like as son. They had some really brutal fights in this as well which was great to see and it seems Alec might have planted the seeds of doubt in Charlie's mind so we will see where that goes. I think that the story between Miles and Alec is one of my favourites in Revolution because it is kind of tragic overall that whoever's life Miles gets involved does seem go badly lol.

Free Monroe Dollars!

A plot that I really didn't care for at all in this was Rachael's and Aaron because once again it just shows how much of a b***h Rachael is. I can not sympathize with her character at all and the reasons why she is doing it because like Jane I just don't believe her, she has gone on this journey only for her own sake and her own damn ego nothing else. It was interesting that the Nanites are constantly healing certain people while they are on but it also made me hate Rachael even more now because it again shows that she is not turning the power on for the right reason. Just because her son is dead she now thinks it's alright to let die everyone else who depended on the Nanites? Jane really should have burnt her f***ing ass!

"Behold my army Miles"

Other stuff to mention it that I really liked the scene at night in Atlanta with all of it's citizens evacuating and I guess that was the fear Monroe wanted to put in them. However I wonder if it really was the best option to use a helicopter to drop cards warning everyone and not to have done it in secret? Anyway it looks like the plot of the nuke is now over and now Monroe is going to have to think of another plan. Also I really liked the ending in this showing that an all out war between the two nations is about to commence with Miles leading it all.



"See you soon Monroe Republic"

Overall this was a great episode with seeing Georgia and the story with Miles and Alec but I felt they wasted a bit of it with Rachael's plot at Jane's house, even if she wasn't annoying in it I just didn't much care for it. Also just want to point out that since it looks like Georgia is going to reinforce the Rebels at the end but shouldn't the Rebels also hate Georgia? They say they are trying to bring back the United States so shouldn't that mean they need to get rid of Georgia and not just the Republic?
